Darbk: Journey of a Tire

ABOUT THE PROJECT

A Darbk truck tire starts as a drop of latex on a tree. Darbk's content writer wanted that whole journey in one minute, from the forest to the Saudi road, and wrote it as a 6-scene storyboard. There was no factory to film, no lab and no convoy. We made every scene, then cut the film at the speed of a machine.

From the forest to the convoy

12 beats, one tire: latex, the mixer, steel cords, the drum, the press, the test cell, the fitting, the road.

Darbk's storyboard

It came as a written storyboard, 6 scenes with their timing and lines. We kept one tire believable through all of them.

235 stills, one tire

Where a shot had to match something real, we fed in the real thing: a Riyadh road sign, the white Actros, a Saudi highway.

On the line

Approved stills from inside the line: the mixer, the tread and the highway, each one picked frame by frame before it moved.

The Actros in motion

The white Actros, built from a real reference still, turned into a moving shot with Veo 3.

60 shots in a minute

The storyboard held 6 scenes; the film holds about 60 shots. Most last under a second, so the chain from latex to road reads as one line.

90 Veo 3 clips

Veo 3 returned 8 seconds per clip at 720p. Every approved still went through it, often several times, and the edit kept the best second of each.

Inside the factory

No factory was filmed. The mixer, the building drum, the test cell and the fitting were all generated, then cut into the line.

Wheel fitting

The tire meets the wheel in the workshop, the last stop before the road.

From 720p to 2K

134 Topaz renders took the clips to 2560x1440. Color, grain and Lama Sans subtitles tied them together.

The same frame at 200%

One frame of the test rig, raw against upscaled. The scratches and the cable come back.

Voice and mix

The voice-over lines came from Darbk's content writer. Here they are alone, then in the final mix with licensed Shutterstock music.

The upscaled shot

The tire test rig after Topaz, at 2560x1440, as it plays in the film.

On the road

The journey ends where the tire belongs: Darbk trucks on the Riyadh road.

The final shot

Darbk trucks on the Riyadh road: the approved convoy still, turned into the film's last shot.

6 scenes on paper, 60 seconds on screen

235 stills, 90 clips, 134 upscales, 6 days. Darbk's writer set the story; Esnine built everything you see.
